DIY Project: Egyptian Queen Costume

Christmas Around The World, that was the theme of my elder daughter's Christmas program at school yesterday. The director decided to roll the United Nations and Christmas celebration into one this year, hence the theme. Aşkım's class in grade 4 was assigned to dance We Wish You A Merry Christmas in Egyptian. And of course, they have to dress up in Egyptian-inspired costume to fully identify the country they represent.

Here she is, all smiles while doing the moves.

She was the one only one in red, white and gold color combo.

So proud of my firstborn, but also proud of myself being able to sew her costume all by myself.

Her teacher actually gave the memo on the Christmas program and costume as early as October. That was the time when costumes were widely available in stores and malls. However, it was not easy to find one in my daughter's size, so I ended up buying the materials and sewing it myself.

Me on the floor, working on the dress.

I procrastinated a bit and started making the costume only a couple of weeks ago. I had to figure out how to do the plate-like collar of the dress first. Anyhow, I was able to finish the whole thing less than 4 hours total. Everything from cuff, belt, dress and cape were handmade by me. I requested a friend to buy me a golden headpiece at Baclaran then viola.. the costume is complete. I remember I did a pretty similar project 3 years ago. Check my DIY Greek goddess costume blogpost from 2014. You can also see more DIY and crafts in this site using the search button. Just write DIY and hit search.

What do you think? Did I do a good job? Haha.

Anytime Fitness Shaw Christmas Party

This year's gym party was a blast. Anytime Fitness Shaw Blvd. just held its annual Christmas party and it was a lot of fun. The party attire was denim, just a bit relative to last year's purple theme.

Photo op with gorgeous gym playmates Irish, Coach Kabee, and Limarvic..

A special zumba class with Zin Gerald and Rachel was held at 6pm.

After dance cardio, a fiesta of food followed. I forgot to take photos but the spread was a sight to behold.

There were A LOT of carbs, fats and protein. Protein choices include grilled chicken, chicken lollipops, buffalo chicken, the popular crispy liempo thins, chicharon, and 2 whole Cebu lechon. Carbs include different kinds of pansit, spaghetti, baked mac, my favorite assorted suman, and pizzas; loads of ' em.

Please zoom in to see the suman that I am holding. Haha.

There was a short program, awarding ceremony and games as well. Selected members, coaches and instructor were recognized.

One of the awardees is yours truly.

So happy to accept this AFPH Battle of the Purple Warrior Champion 2017 certificate.

Also flattered to be chosen as AF Shaw Purple Warrior of the Year.

The first one is kinda expected but not this. Honestly, I am not sure how did I fit the category. Still can't believe I took home this title. Thank you, Anytime Fitness Shaw for the recognition!

And oh, my team won the pyramid game. I took home dozens of Modess cos of it. Yay!

Just 10 days more before Christmas day. My family decided to stay in the city this Christmas but we will be off to an island paradise a few days before the New Year. I know it's gonna be a great experience. Hope to publish a few more posts before the year finally ends. Till then! :)
