Happy Thanksgiving!

Okay, I know we are not in the US or Canada to celebrate thanksgiving in November. I just realized a lot of things lately which made me feel so grateful. I mean, just seeing the news everyday and looking at the calendar already going to December, I can't help but count the blessings that come my way.

Despite the devastating calamities that hit our country, I hope everyone will have the courage to smile and carry on. It won't be easy I know. But let us remain prayerful and still be grateful with all the blessings that we receive every new day.

Happy Thanksgiving to one and all!

Suna Isobel (A Poem)

Can't remember exactly when the last time I wrote a poem, but I know it was for my elder daughter. I've written her maybe 3 or 4 and now I feel like writing for my newborn. To my dear Suna Isobel, this one is for you.

So adorable and sweet that's what you are,
Uplifting my personality like the brightest star.
Never thought I'll have another angel,
As sweet you my dear Isobel.

In my life you are truly an inspiration.
Sometimes I just pause in full admiration.
Over the moon is how I feel each day,
Because of you everything feels okay.
Enduring love is what I promise to you,
Lasting and long-suffering no matter where I go.

Seni cok seviyorum Sunam.
Always and forever.

Love Mama

In-Room Dining

During our recent 3 day stay at Shangri-la Mactan Resort and Spa, we were either having our meals at Tides or in-room dining. Hubby was the number one person who enjoyed the latter so much and I tell you, my vision of him eating his grilled sandwich and fried while watching TV is still fresh in my mind. He specially prefers hotel in-room dining after a day full of activities whenever we're traveling abroad or having a short trip out of town.

An in-room dining set we ordered at Shangri-la Mactan

Aside from Tides, they actually have 3 more restaurants serving different kinds of cuisine at Shangri-la Mactan. For example, Acqua is where Italian food is served in an elegant table setting. Mind you, it's where I found some burlap table runners that really looked appealing. I suggested we go to Acqua on our last night at the hotel, but hubby and our elder daughter were feeling lazy to go. Good thing they didn't accept my idea because the little one later on that night just got sleepy and cranky, too.

Nevertheless, I also benefit from in-room dining service. Minding a preschooler and a newborn baby can be a tough job when having lunch or dinner outside. On the other hand, in-room dining saves me time from queuing, getting seated, ordering, and waiting in a restaurant. So, if there is a chance for in-room dining, I'll choose it, order my food and wait for the doorbell to ring.

Dressing for the Holidays

Just one more week and it will be December. Behind the fact that we've been hearing bad news on TV, I think nobody can really stop the approaching holiday season, not even Haiyan or Yolanda. Like people always say, Filipinos are resilient, we will manage to stand up and carry on. In my case, of course, I will continue the tradition with my friends and family. And guess what, below is my fashion peg this coming festivities.

Outfit #1. Holidate with Hubby. Leopard printed dress. Black and gold accessories.

Outfit #2. Friends' Year End. Red jacket, white inner, and blue jeans. Brown and gold accessories.

Outfit #3. Party with Family. Houndstooth dress. Black and gold accessories. Red lipstick.

I am already excited to dress up. I am not sure if I'll be able to follow my pegs but any which way, I will pull off something and have fun. Merry Christmas everyone. In advance! :)

2GO Travel to Romblon

It was our first time to go to my province in Romblon using 2GO Travel (St. Ignatius of Loyola) last month. The truth is, we've been using plane to visit Tablas island for a while until the operation stopped to make way for the expansion of Tablas Airport. Nonetheless, one major reason that we opted traveling by plane for the longest time was the size of the boats servicing Odiongan Port and the weather during our previous travels. Besides, going to places with a preschooler and a newborn baby is challenging enough. So, to lessen the stress, I bought cabin tickets and prayed for the best. Here's our experience.

A cabin ticket with 2GO Travel from Batangas Port to Odiongan Port is P1264. Each cabin has 2 to 3 bunk beds, occupying 4 to 6 people. Each bed is covered with thick curtains and provided with clean sheet, pillow and blanket.

Inside a 2GO Travel cabin, aside from bunk beds, are TV with cable, small table, and ottoman chair, cabinets with lifejackets and extra space for passenger's luggages. The cabin toilet with sink and shower is clean and provided with tissue paper.

A cabin ticket includes a single meal with choices of chicken, pork and beef dishes. As you can see in the photo, my elder daughter enjoys watching TV while having dinner. Her plate has rice, fried chicken and buttered mixed veggies. Drinks are not included in each meal though.

If ever we need to travel back to province and still no plane flights to Tablas, I guess we'll use 2GO Travel again. I like the fact that the ship leaves early from Odiongan at 11 o'clock in the morning so we are back to Manila by 10 PM. Add to that, is the guaranteed smooth sailing of the vessel, not too shaky like other smaller boats. Aside from cabin, they also have state room, tourist, and super value accommodation.

To book your travel via 2GO, visit http://travel.2go.com.ph/. Happy trip! :)

Barbie Party

Have you been to a real Barbie House? Or attended an exclusive Barbie party? One of my elder daughter's closest friends celebrated her birthday at the Barbie House in Shangri-la Plaza recently. Barbie is her friend's favorite character so it was a dream party for her which was granted by her parents. Being a Barbie lover too, my elder daughter was so excited to attend the event and have fun.

Each girl attendee got a new hairstyle and was pampered with Barbie-inspired nails.

This is how the life-size Barbie house looks like. So pink.

My daughter loved it there. I bet you can tell.

There was a buffet of sweets for the party-goers. Donuts and cupcakes anyone?

My daughter and her cute friend. She just turned 6.

All the girls gathered around the cake for the birthday song and cake-blowing.

I think I will choose this place if I were to book a small party place for either of my daughters. It is not huge but just enough for an intimate event that a kid will surely love on her birthday. I am not sure though if how much do they charge for the rent per hour. Will try to drop by Shangri-la and inquire.

My Elder Daughter's Coke

Remember my blog about personalized Coke? My brother-in-law in Istanbul sent me this image last night and I was like.. wow! I didn't know they also have Coke with that name, my elder daughter's name, Askim. She didn't see it yet but I guess she will be thrilled to have it. I already requested my brother-in-law to buy one for her and buy Suna, for my younger daughter, if it is also available.

We are planning to visit Turkey again at least before our baby daughter turns 2, avoiding to pay for an extra ticket. If that plan works, I am sure will be really fun and they'll get to drink Coke with their names on it. Vay bey! :)

Halloween Trick or Treat 2013

How was your Halloween mommies and kids? Where did you celebrate? Ours was short and simple since we had to leave for the province. Trick or treat took place in the morning of elder daughter's last day of school before semestral break. Following the plan, using the same dress she wore on her Disney Princess party, she enjoyed Halloween with her classmates and friends at school.

Most kids chose to wear a princess costume, some came as a creepy as a witch, while others looked like they have some sort of physical drug addiction.

Of course, I have to say that the girls in my elder daughter's class were the cutest. Look at them.. Princess Aurora, Aprodite, and Purple Fairy. So adorable right?

Spotted in the higher section were Snow White, Belle, Rapunzel, and Jasmine. There were super heroes too like Spiderman, Ironman and Goku.

My baby daughter wasn't able to join her ate because of lack of time. After the party, we just picked up my elder daughter, rested a bit, then off we went to Batangas to catch the night ship to Odiongan, a port in Tablas, Romblon, my home province.

Next year, I am sure both daughters will be able to enjoy trick or treating. That time, I will buy them identical costumes.

Ginataang Tilapia at Puso ng Saging

I just came back from Romblon but I already miss it. You know, whenever I miss my home province, I cook something that reminds me of it, like this tilapia and banana blossom in coconut milk or ginataang puso ng saging with tilapia. Normally, dried fish and not fresh fish goes with banana blossom. No dried fish in my pantry so I used fresh tilapia as substitute. Otherwise, my ginataan tasted great and so much better than the usual.

One of my current favorite native dishes.. yum!

This is best eaten with bahaw or cold rice. Hihi.

Ingredients:

2 medium tilapia, cleaned and salted
1 medium banana blossom, sliced thinly
1/2 cup coconut milk
1/4 cup coconut cream
1/2 cup water
3 cloves of garlic, crushed
salt to taste*

Cooking Procedure:

Put banana blossom, garlic and 1/2 cup of water in a pot then bring to boil until banana blossom becomes tender. Add coconut milk then boil for 5 minutes, mixing constantly to prevent the milk from curdling. Add tilapia, coconut cream, and salt to taste. Let it boil for another 5 minutes or until sauce thickens. Serve hot with rice. Enjoy!

*You can also use fish sauce instead of salt.

Ezerra Cream Review

Our pediatrician recommended Ezerra Cream for my elder daughter's dry, red and itchy face. She sees this certain body soap commercial everyday so she requested me to buy the product. I never used it on her before 'cause I know how drying it could be. I thought maybe my daughter's skin won't have the same reaction but after days of usage, I noticed her face turned rough and dry. It was itchy too. She was scratching it so it turned red.

Ezerra Cream 25 g. This cream is mainly for moisturizing.

Daughter thinks the pink teddy is cute.

It got better. My elder daughter's face is no longer dry and itchy. We already stopped using it after a week of continued use. Thanks Ezerra Cream!

The packaging says, Ezerra cream is formulated with Stimu-tex AS to help relieve dryness and itchiness, symptoms associated with dry and sensitive skin. Ezzera cream also contains Saccaride Isomerate which means mimics the skin's natural moisturizing factors, locking in essential moisture under all environmental conditions, thus preventing the recurrence of dry and sensitive skin.

The best thing about this cream is it contains no steroid. Apply on to affected areas 3 to 4 times a day until skin goes back to normal condition.

Ezerra cream is manufactured by HOE Pharmaceuticals Sdn. Bhd. Malaysia. It should be available in all major drugstores nationwide.

Product Rate: 8 over 10
