I decreased the amount of sugar for the glaze.
I did a little adjustment with the butter for the dough, too.
Cutting the dough.
Allowing the doughnut rings to rise.
The recipe I used is from the350degreeoven.com. Will share the recipe as soon as I perfect cooking it.
I know I was not able to follow the required time for kneading and rising of the dough, I skipped using vanilla (cos I ran out), and my brother was the one who fried the doughnut rings.
The end product was okay but it was not very close to Krispy Kreme. I noticed that the glaze melted under room temperature (probably because of the super hot weather) and the doughnuts hardened on the next day.
I will try and try cooking glazed doughnuts until I perfect them. I will not to rush, strictly follow the procedure, and make sure to have the required ingredients in my pantry next time.
Do you like doughnuts? Which doughnut store you like? What is is your favorite doughnut flavor?
Nice looking donuts :) I hope you perfect it soon and share the recipe :)
ReplyDeleteWow, looks good enough. I guess you can add more cornstarch to your icing sugar so it won't melt in room temp? i agree, tempting talaga ang KK but sinful and sometimes too sweet!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip. Btw, do you have a favorite doughnut recipe to share? :)
DeleteHaha are those your favorite donuts? Nice ah, you can maybe turn that into a business :P
ReplyDeleteNot yet po. Hihi.

Looking at some of the changes you made with my recipe, changing the ratio of the sugar in the glaze, changing/decreasing the amount of butter, and not allowing the dough to rise long enough... I think this is the problem you encountered, and why your donuts did not turn out "very close to Krispy Kreme". If you follow my recipe exactly as written, you might find your donuts turn out better. From your photos, it looks like your donuts did not rise very much, and part of it could be the changes you made to the dough ingredients, and part of it could be not allowing the dough to rise as it should. Part of what makes Krispy Kreme donuts so good is the texture, and you will not get that soft fluffy texture if you use less butter (or substitute butter with something else), and don't give the yeast time to do its work. Hope this helps! :)
Noted that dear. Thank u so so much for the input. I will make sure to follow your advise next time.
