Healthy and Delicious Popsicle for Kids

Since it is very hot and everybody is complaining about the weather, let the kids (and kids at heart) relax and cool down by eating something cool and icy. To beat the summer heat, one can opt for an easy to serve ice cream from the friendly neighborhood grocery or make a cold snack at home like for example, halo-halo, ice candy or fruity pops. In my case, I don't think it's a good idea to spoil my kid by allowing her always eat unhealthy sweets. As much as possible, I try to prepare them myself at home. By doing so, I get to save money and I am sure my daughter eat healthily.

For today, I'm going to share how to make your own healthy ice pops.

I have here mango, avocado and papaya popsicle.

That's papaya popsicle she's holding. Hmmm.. delicious!

Noticed that my daughter looks younger in the photo? Hihihi. That's because these photos are from last year. This is a long over overdue post which I intentionally reserve for the summer. Anyhoo, let's get down to business now. Here's my popsicle recipe.

You Will Need:
-1 cup sliced fruit of your choice
-1 cup evaporated milk
-1/2 cup heavy cream or plain yogurt
-sugar to taste

Here's How:
-Put everything in a blender.
-Blend until smooth.
-Pour the blended mixture in a popsicle mold.
-Freeze until set and enjoy.

Note: If you have excess of the blended fruit mixture, you can use it for ice candy. All you have to do it pour the remaining to an ice candy plastic, then freeze as well.

The Best Pink Laptop for Me

What kind of computer are you using? In my case, I have this pink Samsung laptop. It is my fourth one already. First I was using Acer eMachines, hubby switched it with Asus Eee T91, then later Acer Aspire. Just last year, he bought this Samsung NP300V5A for me. It is in pink color so it's like my dream laptop.

I love it to bits so I make sure that is clean almost everyday.

I like it a lot because it comes in one of my favorite colors.. pink!

It has genuine operating system, and of course, Intel Inside.

A pink mouse and a super cute mouse pad to match.

I tell you, a crazy thing happened last week when I got into trouble uninstalling a certain application that I downloaded by accident. I panicked seeing it pop out in every corner of my desktop. Registry repair is not available so I forced turning off my laptop and waited for hubby. Good thing he came home early that day and was able to fix the problem.

Gosh, I can't bear having corrupted files or worst is losing my lovely computer in one dumb move. Thanks God for my geek husband! :)

DIY Flower Tutu

This is the newest pink tutu I made for my daughter. They ran out of uniforms at her ballet school. A single set of uniform for her Monday, Wednesday and Thursday classes isn't enough. I had to make an alternative while waiting for the leotard, tights and ballet flats I ordered so here's the DIY (no sew) ballet skirt.

This is the back view of the skirt.

This is the front.

Materials Used for this Project

- 1 & 1/2 yard of tulle in baby pink
- 1 yard ribbon in the same color
- purple flowerettes
- glue gun
- glue stick
- scissors
- tape measure

If you follow me in Instagram, you will see my step by step post on how to make this tutu there. It is easy peasy. Just the same procedure with those tutus I previously posted in my old blog.

Wish to save money on tutus? DIY it! :)

Wedding Planning and Preparation

I feel like a wedding a planner 'cos I am helping my younger brother and future sister-in-law prepare their civil wedding. It will be an intimate civil wedding with only more of less 30 family and close friends invited. To keep track of our progress, I made a list of things we already did and yet to accomplish.

1. Marriage License - Done. The couple went to the city hall to get this specific paper yesterday.

2. Wedding Officiant - I booked a registered solemnizing officer through the help of a relative. We will meet him for final details and down payment on Thursday.

3. Wedding Theme - The fiancée choose purple and white as a wedding theme. Below is the inspirational board which I created through Polyvore.

4. Wedding Bands - We had a problem with the gold wedding bands I purchased. The ring for the groom did not fit. Too late to return them so I bought another set in tungsten. Will blog about it soon.

5.  Wedding Invitation - My brother is looking for the best disc replication in the metro. He works in the music industry (lights & service/ DJ) so we thought CD invites is appropriate.

6. Wedding & Reception Venue - We visited Tramway Buffet Plaza yesterday, booked the venue, and paid 70% of the venue and food service.

7. Wedding Cake & Wine - We ordered their wedding cake at Kink Cakes. Wine will be selected this week.

8. Bridal Dress/ Groom's Attire - The bridal's dress is done. Next thing to buy is shoes. For the groom, they will have something new and something borrowed.

9. Bridal Hair & Makeup - This is going to be DIY. I have an idea on how to to do the hair. I also hope she agrees with the makeup.

10. Wedding Photographer - As you can see, the couple is being practical so we are cutting the expenses again by using our own camera.

The wedding is in less than 2 weeks. The preparation is very short but thank God we are almost there. Good luck to my brother and future sister-in-law.

Beach, Jacuzzi or Pool?

I wondered why I was sweating too much this morning. I checked the temperature and it was 34 °C again in Manila. Okay, I love sunny days than rainy days but the scorching heat is becoming too much to take. It makes me think of running to the beach, soak in a jacuzzi, or hang around the pool!

Imagine you are at this beach in Shangri-la Mactan Cebu. Refreshing, huh?

How about in this super cool jacuzzi at Dos Palmas Island Resort & Spa in Palawan? Ohhh!

Or this hot spring pool with pentair heat pumps at Doña Jovita Garden Resort in Laguna?

Too bad we are too busy to leave the city these days. In the meantime, I will do my duties, running the household, helping my younger brother arrange his civil marriage, and blogging in between. We will be off for a 3 week vacation by the 2nd week of May anyway. Ohh, I am excited!

Ziaja Goat's Milk Hand Cream Review

Whew, what a hot summer day! Will be off to the bank in an hour, just waiting for the sun to come down a little bit. Before leaving, let me write a review of Ziaja Goat's Milk Hand Cream. I bought this product at Beauty Bar in Podium and I have been using it for a month now.

Ziaja Goat's Milk Hand Cream 80 ml is P200 or around 5$. It is for dry and wrinkle prone skin.

The detail at the back (picture below) says:

  • Provides intense hydration and makes the skin more supple.
  • Works to revitalize the epidermis and softens rough skin.
  • Helps to strengthen the nails, working to prevent their splitting and breaking.

Some of the ingredients include Salicylate, Citric Acid, Lactubacillus or Milk Solids, etc.
Please refer to the photo above for the complete list.

The white cream smells fine and not too strong. Apply a small amount to your skin.
Spread evenly. I recommend it using twice a day.

In my case, I use it every time I feel that my hands are dry. I actually have 2 brands of hand cream these days, but I prefer this one 'cause it works better.

Photo comparison or before and after use of Ziaja Goat's Milk Hand Cream.
The left photo displays noticeable dryness while picture on the right is the hydrated version.

My Overall Verdict
I will use this products for the meantime since my all time favorite hand lotion Nivea Age Defying Q10 Plus is no longer available in the local market. Price is affordable. Easy to carry. Most of all, I can find it in the nearest mall.

Full Blast at Baby Blast 4

The event BABY BLAST 4! Discover, Create, Imagine, Explore! which took place at Trinoma Activity Center last Sunday was very successful. For those who haven't heard about Baby Blast yet, it is a yearly event which promotes Early Head Start Education and aims to spread awareness on its importance and benefits. It is made possible through Outbox Media Production Agency as spearheaded by no other than, the wife of Anthony "Tonying" Taberna, Miss Rossel Taberna. There were a series of programs from 10 o'clock in the morning till 7 PM. A lot of families truly had a blast that day.

There were various talks on nutrition, parenting, child education, etc. Plus, the crowd was serenaded by Paolo Santos with his famous songs Kanlungan and Moonlight Over Paris.

The venue was filled with booths of Regent, Bye Bye Fever, Ferna, Magnolia, and many many more.

This was my favorite booth.. Robby Rabbit's. Lots of cute pink items for kiddos here.

Former senator and former congresswoman Nikki Coseteng at the Diliman Preparatory School's booth, being interviewed by the host.

Look, I spotted Tunying's booth. They sold pandesal, cheese bread, monay, etc.

At the second part of the program, Jenny Miller and Snooky Serna came to host the show.

Photographed here is Miss Rossel Taberna, the two celebrity hosts and volunteer kids in a game of transferring eggs using chopsticks.

Another guest was journalist and TV personality Christine "Tin-tin" Bersola-Babao. She talked about and conducted another game.

My daughter and I enjoyed a lot. Thank you Miss Rossel Taberna for making Pink MagaLine as one of your partners to this event. Congratulations Outbox Media and OBM Events for a job well done. I am sure next year on its 5th anniversary, Baby Blast will be a major success again!

Krispy Kreme Glazed Doughnut Copycat

Lately, I get a temptation to buy a box of sweet treats every time I pass by a doughnut store esp. Krispy Kreme. Alright, think of that as a confession 'cause honestly, I hated the said doughnut store for selling the sweetest and the softest glazed doughnuts. So to satisfy my craving without paying for a ridiculously expensive and extremely sinful Krispy Kreme, I decided to make glazed doughnuts at home. Here is the result of my first attempt. Dyaaraannnn!

I decreased the amount of sugar for the glaze.

I did a little adjustment with the butter for the dough, too.

Cutting the dough.

Allowing the doughnut rings to rise.

The recipe I used is from Will share the recipe as soon as I perfect cooking it.

I know I was not able to follow the required time for kneading and rising of the dough, I skipped using vanilla (cos I ran out), and my brother was the one who fried the doughnut rings.

The end product was okay but it was not very close to Krispy Kreme. I noticed that the glaze melted under room temperature (probably because of the super hot weather) and the doughnuts hardened on the next day.

I will try and try cooking glazed doughnuts until I perfect them. I will not to rush, strictly follow the procedure, and make sure to have the required ingredients in my pantry next time.

Do you like doughnuts? Which doughnut store you like? What is is your favorite doughnut flavor?

MICHAEL by Michael Kors Medium Navy Jet Set Shoulder Tote Review

It was around February when I thought of buying another genuine leather purse. That time, I was eyeing for a pink bag and almost bought the MICHAEL by Michael Kors Small Jet Set Travel Tote in pink saffiano leather. Realizing that it's harder to clean a pink leather bag, I finally settled with this MICHAEL by Michael Kors Medium Jet Set Shoulder Tote in navy color. I called Michael Kors branches in Powerplant and Shangri-La and also requested hubby to call a Michael Kors branch in Istanbul if they carry the same product and how much do they charge for it. After considering the prices and taxes, I decided to order it from the US with the help of Gel of Jass Botiq, the same store where I bought the Victoria's Secret gift set. The bag arrived yesterday so here is my honest review of the bag.

This MICHAEL by Michael Kors Medium Navy Jet Set Shoulder Tote retails at $198, plus tax and shipping fee.

Its removable chain and leather straps allow it to be worn as a shoulder bag, as a tote or single for a long drop, and cross body.

The bag's dimension is 12" in width, 12" in height and 3" in diameter. It is actually small but weighs around 500 grams.

This beautiful golden Michael Kors logo charm can be attached to either the leather shoulder strap or to the chain handle.

This is the MICHAEL by Michael Kors logo on one of the inner pockets. The interior features monogram or signature lining.

It has a magnetic snap closure, one zip and four open pockets and key keeper hook.

This is a close up photo of the inner zip pocket. Notice the detail of the zipper and the stitching. That's how an original leather bag should be.

Lastly, I have here the care instructions and the tag price.

So, what do I really think about MICHAEL by Michael Kors Medium Navy Jet Set Shoulder Tote? I say it is a must-have! The color is perfect for summer and even good for the entire year. It comes in classic colors like black, tan, vanilla, silver, and gold, and summer colors like blue, lemon, and orange. If you wish to have an affordable leather designer bag, I suggest you start with MICHAEL by Michael Kors.

NOTW: Pink Strawberries

From now on, I will be using 'nail of the week' instead of nail of the day'. I realized my nails do not chip off quickly so it saves me from shifting to another design right away. This pink strawberry nails for example is already 1 week old. I was supposed to try another nail design today, but it still looks good. I guess I will continue wearing it till next week.

It is really pink. It's just the camera which makes it look reddish.

I used pink as a base, green for the crown and white for the dots.

Lastly, I applied a colorless polish as coating for protection.

The daughter has also the same nail art in baby pink.

As shared in my Instagram account.

For my next nail art, I am thinking either another fruity nail or ombre. We'll see which design wins.
Happy weekend to each and all. Muah!
