Sale Find: Black Vest

When I bought this item, it reminded me of Reiva Cruz from a makeup workshop at MUD to which I attended early this year. She wore a black vest beautifully, paired with a floral skirt, tights, and boots.

Sale Find: Black Vest
Sale Price: P175
Regular Price: P350

I'm not yet sure if I will be able to incorporate this vest into any of my outfits. I usually wear t-shirts and jeans but I also dress up a bit for events and other special occasions. Any suggestions on how to wear it? Thanks! :)

Huge Thanks + Sunshine Award

A HUGE THANKS TO MY 400 FOLLOWERS!
I am very happy that this blog just reached 400 followers. Since its birth, I think you know I always been grateful to you my readers and followers. That's why I had made it a point to run a giveaway everytime I feel thankful. So with this, I am pushing myself to have another giveaway. Please wait while I do my shopping. Hihihi!

For the meantime, I am passing this award that was given to me by a lovely lady blogger named Liza of Sun, Sand, and Stilettos. I stopped accepting tags and awards a long time ago, but I'm making an exception to this one. I am just currently too grateful not to pass it.

The Sunshine Award

Here are the rules:
1. Thank the person who gave you this award and write a post about it.
2. Answer the following questions.
3. Pass it to 10 fabulous bloggers and send them a message to let them know.

Favorite animal?
-No pets for me but I find dogs cute and friendly.

Favorite number?
-I guess 18. That's from my birthday.

Favorite drink?
-I like fresh milk in the morning and cold water throughout the day.

Facebook or Twitter?
-I hang in Facebook almost always.

Your passion?
-These days? Blogging and taking care of my family.

Giving or getting presents?
-I like both. I feel happy in receiving gifts, sometimes happier when I'm the one giving them.

Favorite day?
-My favorite day is Christmas Day and all the days that Christmas carols play in the air.

Favorite flowers?
-Tulips. The pink ones. I saw beds of pink tulips in Turkey and I fell in love with them in an instant. How I wish we have a plantation of tulips in this country.

Queen of the Army

What's up ladies? How are you doing? I just checked my schedule and it says I have to be off in a bit to have lunch with some friends. Before hitting the road, let me share my outfit to a mall up north last Saturday. Our family went there for our usual weekend mall shopping and dining. Hubby took these photos at the parking lot.

That favorite bag of mine should rest in my closet for a while.

What I wore: Forever 21 earrings, tank top, and cardigan,
Penshoppe cargo pants, Figliarina wedges, INCI bag

Sophie Martin belt

rings from Baguio and Landmark

I sometimes find it hard to wear my cargo pants. The idea that they're created for field warriors is always stuck in my head. I know gone are those days that cargo pants are for soldiers only. Famous Hollywood celebrities like Leighton Meester, Halle Berry, Kim Kardashian, and many more sport cargo pants with heels and they all looked good. I bet you'll agree with me, but what do you really think of my ensemble? Anymore suggestions on how to wear a pair of cargo pants? :)

It is the Philippine Fashion Week! What show have you watched so far? One of the famous Filipino designers these days, Michael Cinco, just presented a very beautiful collection at the Philippine Fashion Week Spring Summer 2012. Here are the breathtaking gowns that he created.

I Love the draping.

Very intricate design.

To die for.

Perfect silhouette.

Fantastic bead work!

A gown for the goddess.

And for the muse.. Anne Curtis.

Now meet Michael Cinco, the designer behind these beautiful clothes.

If you guys remember, like Oliver Tolentino, Michael Cinco's creations were also featured in America's Next Top Model. It was in episode 8 of cycle 16 of ANTM that this Dubai-based designer dressed the remaining six contestants.

5 Flattering Fall Fashions

It’s all too easy to curl up during the colder months and retreat under layers of untailored, loose-fitting material. But autumn and winter are times for fashion, and their collections come up with many practical ways around the problem of keeping warm. No matter if you’re London dating @eHarmony UK or speed dating in Bristol, it’s still important to look your best. If you’re not up to speed with this new season’s fashions, here are a few emerging top trends to make you feel stylish and confident in the midst of the chills.

The polo neck
This nifty fashion solution is once again dominating the year’s shelves. Not only do these high-necked jumpers keep you deliciously warm, but they can make a modest upper half look great, emphasizing even the smallest chest size. However, this look may be best avoided if you’re very well endowed in that area, as you may come out looking a little top-heavy.

The tube scarf

http://www.flickr.com/photos/smittenkittenoriginals/4273526311/

These bulky tube-shaped scarves are great for drawing attention away from the overly large chest area. Perfect for winter chills, they are also very in fashion just now, gracing the shelves of most high-street stores. Whether patterned or plain, cotton or wool, you’ll be both warm and cool with one of these around your neck.

The knee-length boot
After the long-reigning fashion for ankle boots and fur-lined boots, knee-lengths are once again back in the big time. Another practical solution to keeping out those chills, these also work to cover up your lower legs if you’re not too happy with them. Try knee-length socks underneath so they peep out of the top of your boots for an extra layer of warmth and style.

The long jumper
Jumpers that extend way beyond the waist are covering many a shop-front mannequin this season. These are flattering for almost any body type – loose-fitting varieties hide a large waist, buttoned ones with under-tops emphasise the chest, and a carefully placed waist belt helps accentuate your curves.

The pencil skirt

http://www.flickr.com/photos/neu4bauer/5967658886/

This timeless skirt shape is another big headliner on the autumn shelves this year. Perfect for the office or a night out, it adds shape and attractiveness to virtually any figure. Make sure to pair it with a pair of super boots to dominate the office space and feel at the height of style.

Whether you’re short, tall, skinny or curvy, there’s sure to be a flattering trend in here for your body type. With the fashion tapped, you’re free to stroll around the office, meet your friends or date online at eHarmony with more confidence. To find out more about eHarmony, click here.

What happened to Leighton Meester's style?

I just watched the movie The Roommate and I couldn't help but notice that Leighton Meester only gets very stylish when she's portraying Blair Waldorf of Gossip Girl. The style usually disappears when she's back to her normal self. Check these photos below so you know what I mean.

Aug 2010, as Blair Waldorf in platform sandals and cargo pants while filming in New York for Gossip Girl. This is a casual look yet very stylish. I like here cargo pants a lot. I have a similar item from Penshoppe.

As herself in an event she attended in December 2010. Tsk tsk tsk! Whoever is your stylist, girl!

Again as herself while attending an event for a brand she endorses, sometime in January 2011.
She is fine this time but check more photos below.

At a Nylon/ Diesel dinner in New York City, February 2011.
Looks like she's wearing some old curtain.

At an HTC event in New York City, September 2011.
Only the sandals looks awesome. Nothing more.

In New York City taken just the other day. See, something's really wrong here. Help!!

I know a lot of you likes Blair Waldorf or Leighton Meester. Well, I also like her. She is good in acting and has a cute smile. However, I would feel sad every time I see those not-so-pretty dresses she wears. As a famous Hollywood actress of her time, I'm expecting her to be more edgy and chic, but then again, that could be her personal style.

Missed A Fashion Show

I know the title can be deceiving, but what I mean to say is, I just missed attending a fashion event! I really thought it was Thursday yesterday. I was invited to cover a certain fashion show somewhere in Fort Strip last Thursday, but I missed it. I normally put my "event schedule" in my cellphone calendar. I'd check my other network sim sometime in Wednesday and forgot to put the proper date after switching it back. The result was, thinking of Thursday as Wednesday and Friday as Thursday. Thursday night came and I freaked out when hubby told me that the next day was actually Friday.

I was in a rush so I used minimal make-up and hair was unkempt. Boo!

Okay enough of that. I missed the Thursday fashion show, but I'm glad I made it to Hotel Intercontinental on time yesterday. I was there to attend a press conference for a certain health product which I'm going to tell you about later. And oh, I finally got to wear my flared jeans and checkered button down top. I'm proud to say that I was able to go home using the railway transit in this outfit without falling down. Hahaha!

I don't know what people think. I just like it!

What I wore: button down top, Surplus Store, braided belt, Collezione, flared jeans, Forever 21, wedge shoes, Parisian by SM, hobo bag, INCI, and watch, Guess.

Please excuse the unpolished nails. They're clean though.

I like my wedge shoes so much even it's 5 inches in height, something that I didn't know until a few weeks ago after seeing a tape measure. However, I don't like its sole because it doesn't have enough grip on the floor and can be slippery when worn. I'm thinking of taking it to the shoe guy for some quick fix.

Happy weekend ladies! :)

Halloween Costume Ideas for Adults

It is pretty easy to find a costume for kids, but not for adults. If you are 18 and older, you have to consider experimenting in making your own costume because you just can't find the ideal one anywhere.

So, Halloween is coming. My daughter already has a couple of costumes. She has a Minnie Mouse costume and a pink fairy princess costume. As for me, I have nothing yet even I've been thinking of trick or treating in a costume with my daughter this year. Actually, I am not sure if I'm going to make a costume for myself or not. I'm kind of lazy but in case of emergency, I think I can easily pull an improvised Minnie Mouse costume like Georgina Wilson's in the photo. Oppss.. I cannot wear a lingerie alone! Hubby will kill me. Instead of a black lingerie, I can wear a black t-shirt paired with a polka dot skirt. Hmmm.. exciting!

More Easy to DIY Halloween Costume Ideas for Adults:
-Glamour Witch
-Hawaiian or Hula Girl
-Arabian Princess
-Greek Goddess
-Fairy
-Princess

Lady Gaga Wears Kermit Tesoro and Leeroy New Outfit in Marry the Night Cover

This is the cover art for Lady Gaga's latest single called Marry the Night. She wears a body armor outfit  which is said to be created by both young Filipino designers Kermit Tesoro and Leeroy New.

If you check the outfit closely, you'll see its resemblance to the outfit below which was worn by a model at the Philippine Fashion Week last year, when Kermit Tesoro and Leeroy New also collaborated.

As far as I know, Kermit Tesoro is famous for designing heel-less shoes and skull heels similar to Alexander Mcqueen's. On the other hand, Leeroy New started with modern sculpting and then later started designing clothes. As for Lady Gaga's clothing for that cover art, I really think it's all Leeroy New's work alone. A lot of people talk about this via Twitter and consider it a big deal who did it and what, etc. I don't know. What do you think? I am nothing against each of these designers, but maybe Kermit Tesoro did the shoes, right? Hmmmm?

Chiffon Maxi Skirt

You know I had a crush on this Forever 21 full maxi skirt. I'm not sure, I think I saw it online or from one of the local Forever 21 ambassadors, but I haven't seen it from any of the Forever 21 stores in the metro. I guess they're all gone and no more stocks. So anyway, I pushed myself to make a maxi skirt instead of paying for a similar skirt for hundreds of pesos from a different store. Here's the outcome of the project.

I know it doesn't have a full skirt. I bought a couple and a half of yards of chiffon fabric and another couple of yards of gina cloth for this project. It just didn't work. I had so much trial and error with this one. My sewing machine didn't work for a couple of times. I had to allow 3 days to finish this project and on the second day, I was close to throwing my machine outside my window. Arrghhh.. I really need to get a decent sewing machine soon!

Materials Used:
-chiffon fabric
-gina cloth
-zipper
-thread
-hook and eye

Total Cost: P115

I did not achieve the look that I really wanted but I'm already happy with the finish product.
Till my next project ladies!

Guiliana Rancic Has Breast Cancer

I usually watch E! News after I'm done blogging and nothing else to do. Yesterday, it was sad to hear the news about Giuliana Rancic having a breast cancer. She announced on NBC's Today show that a tumor was discovered by doctors during a mammogram while she's undergoing another round of IVF. The 37 year old host is scheduled for a surgery this week and radiation therapy for 6 weeks. Hope things will go well with her.

Guiliana and her husband Bill have been trying to conceive. She had a miscarriage after her first in-vitro fertilization and her second didn't work. She bravely said, "I still want this baby ... because this baby has saved my life." And added, "I truly feel God was looking out after me … If I had gotten pregnant later down the line, I could have been a lot sicker."

As we all know, October is the Breast Cancer Awareness month, so I am posting this together with a short prayer for Guiliana and all the women in the world who are suffering from the same sickness.

---
Our Heavenly Father,

Please comfort Guiliana and all the women around world suffering from beast cancer. Cover them with Thy love and let them stay strong throughout the journey. We also ask Thee that more and more people will be aware of this sickness, so that everyone will take extra care of themselves, live healthy, and appreciate life better.

In Jesus name.
Amen.

Win a $500 Worth of Suit Makeover from Express!

I told you I used to be an office girl before I became a full-time mom and blogger. Let me say it again: I really love my life now, but I admit missing the corporate world. Yeah, sometimes. Thanks goodness you don't have to be working in an office to show off some office style these days. I mean, look at these women suits from Express, they remind me of fashion icons like Angelina Jolie and Victoria Beckham. I believe any woman can wear them almost anywhere, thinking of sophistication and androgyny.

I checked the site and specifically liked this women's studio stretch jacket and pant (image above), though I also find the women's rouched sleeve jacket and pant (image below) cute. To make these outfits work from day to night, I can wear a glittery top as inner, with the jacket on, while attending a media event or something. Then, to transform it into a look perfect for a night out with the girls, I'll just simply take off the jacket and apply red lipstick.

Do you wish to have any of these suits? Enter to win a $500 worth of suit makeover by checking Express sweepstakes. Who knows 'cause you might be the next winner. Good luck!
Now, tell me. Which suit do you love the most? If you have that exact suit in your closet right now, how are you going to use it?

Favorites from the Gucci Women's Fall Winter 2011-2012 Fashion Show

I don't support the killing of animals for fur or leather. However, I have to admit that both fur and leather look good on women once they're already transformed into beautiful pieces like these ones from the Gucci Women's Fall Winter 2011-2012 Fashion Show.

Play this video below to see more.

Okay, I am myself guilty of buying things made from genuine leather. In my closet, I have a pair of shoes, a couple of bags, and a coat, which I bought to beat the cold during our Turkish vacation, all made from leather. But, I believe the leather material of those things I bought came from animals which were also slaughtered for consumption.

Gucci said to be selling fur clothing made from baby animals and snakeskin. I don't have a full knowledge on this subject, though. If it's true, I just wish they stop and think of using faux fur and imitation snakeskin instead. It may affect their sales but PETA and other animal-friendly organizations will stop attacking them.

You ladies, what do you think of Gucci Women's Fall Winter 2011-2012? How about killing animals for fur and leather?

DIY Long Pearl Necklaces

Opppsss.. are the rainy days over? Rain is a good thing because it gives nourishment to the land. However, nobody likes too much rain because it causes floods. As a frugal fashionista (I mean that), the only thing that I like when it rains is staying at home and doing DIY projects.

For this project, I bought beads of plastic pearls at Carolina's Lace Shoppe. This is very easy to make, it's like the easiest project that even a 5 year old can make, so I guess I don't to make a "how to" for it.

I just want to share that instead of spending hundreds of pesos for a long necklace from Forever 21 or Accessorize, you better go to Carolina's Lace Shoppe, pick the bead of your choice and create a necklace for yourself. Mine here is plain, but you can add a flower or a bow for embellishment to yours.

Take note, for these gold and black long pearl necklaces, I only spend P80 or P40 each. Awesomeness right?

Top 6 Animal Prints

Animal prints are always trendy. If you add an animal printed bag, shoes, scarf or jacket to a basic outfit, it becomes more sophisticated and classy. However, still a lot of people confuse one animal print with another (including me). There is quite a big number of animals out there, though in fashion, only a few of which are famous among textile and other materials. So, to help our confused minds, let's study the top 5 animal prints.

1. Leopard - This is the most popular among all the animal prints. Leopard print is sometimes mistaken as jaguar print, though leopard has a number of variations. See two samples below.

2. Jaguar - The Jaguar print resembles the leopard print very well. Just remember that the jaguar print is almost orange in color, while leopard is more of a brown. Another distinction is the size of the print. Leopard has a smaller print compare with jaguar's that are bigger and bolder.

3. Cheetah - The cheetah print is easy to recognize. It is usually white with tiny black spots. Just like in the image below.

4. Tiger - Another brownish print is the tiger print. It's like a mix of tiger and zebra print in an brownish color.

5. Zebra - The zebra print is characterized by black stripes in a white background. It's the easiest to remember among all these prints.

6. Python - This is the animal print of the season. It comes in different colors like brown, gray, black, green, yellow, aquamarine, etc. Have you seen the Gucci Fall Winter 2011 Collection? It features super beautiful bags, shoes, and clothes in aquamarine python!
