Flowers on My Nails

It was Tuesday morning and I had nothing much to do. While checking my daughter's drawer, I saw two pads of nail stickers which she got from one of the parties that we attended over a year ago. I kept them, hoping that I will be able to use them one day and that day was the day. Like I told you in my previous nail post, I am yet to explore nail art, so finally.. here is my first post on nail art!

First, I coated my nails with Etude House's BR 301 in red tea milk for two times. After allowing them to dry, I applied the 3D Nail flower stickers and then a final coating of the colorless Caronia nail polish for protection.

Here's the result. My nail art looks lovely from a distant, but unfortunately the closer view is not pleasant at all! I think the stickers were too thick that the Caronia colorless paint couldn't press them down well. Another problem is with the Etude House nail paint. If you'll look closely at the photo below, you will see that the color on my middle finger chipped already. Mind you, this photo was taken the same day of application.

Normally, I allow a week to pass before changing my nail color, but this time, I had to change it right away. To add to my dismay, I discovered that some of my nails turned yellow after taking off the paint today. Too bad I forgot to take photos 'cos I was in a hurry covering them with a new color.

You know I used several other brands before, but only Etude House gave this very disappointing result. Now, I'm not sure what to do with my remaining bottles of Etude House nail paints. Remember I bought a couple of in my recent shopping haul? :(

Black Again

We all know that black is the most prestigious and timeless of all the colors. Black fashion pieces can be matched with almost anything. If white clothes make you look bigger, black can make you look thinner. Wear black for power and authority. Also, if you wish to stand out, wear a black outfit that compliments your figure matched by a pair of killer heels and a statement jewelry, just like these following celebrities.

Heidi Klum in a black asymmetrical dress, opaque tights, and sky high sandals. I like her whole outfit even though I'm not a fan of killer heels.

Kim Kardashian in a black mini dress and platform shoes. Less is more for this curvy lady.

Fergie in black shorts, top with super puffy sleeves, and boots. This is totally F.I.E.R.C.E!

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in a black sheer gown. I don't think I can wear the gown, but the shoes look really sexy.

Alicia Greene also in a black romper and layered necklace. Simple.. that's all.

Shenae Grimes in her black shorts, blazer, and booties. Her edgy look reminds me of Patricia Prieto. Hihi.

So, do you keep fashionable pieces in black color? What are they and how do you wear them? Share it to me! :)

Carolina’s Lace Shoppe – Megamall Branch

Carolina’s Lace Shoppe is like a haven for people who love crafting and sewing. They have a wide selection of flowers, beads, and sequins for embellishment. They also have laces, threads, ribbons, buttons, and different kinds of fabric. Name it and they have it. The first time I was there, I saw fashion students, fashion designers, and ordinary sewers alike buying from that store.

This is the entrance of the store.

I honestly don't know the exact term for these. They all look nice for embellishment.

There are more colors to choose from, brown, purple, blue, yellow, etc.

Threads, yarns, DMCs, and fabrics.

Feathers, flowers, and beads.

Aside the Megamall branch, Carolina’s also has branches in Yangco, Recto, Glorietta 5, Market! Market!, and Pasay. Visit them now for all your sewing, beading, and crafting needs.

PS: This is not a paid post.

Colorful Parisian Shoes

SM Department Stores sell the most fashionable shoes that are perfect for the print over print and the color blocking trend-- Parisian. Of course, they come in different styles, colors, and sizes. I swear one can’t resist the temptation of buying a pair after seeing these shelves of pumps, platforms, wedges, and stilettos.

MUTED NEUTRALS

SAFARI HIGH

Hey, I know how comfortable and sturdy Parisian wedges are. In fact, I owned a pair that lasted for over three years. I am afraid that those pumps, platforms, and stilettos are not as comfy though. I had to ask my favorite fashion blogger, Patricia Prieto, if they are good for walking. Do you know what she had to say regarding Parisian heels? She said they are super comfortable, so I guess I will get myself a pair sometime soon! :)

Pink Prettiness + Some News

First and foremost, thank you so much for all of you who remembered me on my birthday. I think I received the most number of greetings this year. Some of you texted me, others dropped a comment here in this blog, and then most of you left a message on my FB wall. I get Facebook updates through my phone, so I was able to read your messages without going online that day. Thank you all so much. I chose to celebrate my birthday the simplest way yet it was as memorable as the previous one.

My pink nails. I wore this nail color to the Penshoppe Holiday 2011 fashion show. It was my first time to wear pink ( on my fingernails) and it made me feel so feminine that day, so I decided to wear it again last week. I think pink nails aren’t just sexy, but girly and playful too!

Nail Polish Brand: Bobbie Premium Nail Cream 15 ml
Nail Color: Garnet Glam
Price: P34
Value for Money: 7 out of 10

Bad News. I will temporarily remove the PINAY IN PINK corner. I said temporarily, meaning I will possibly put it back in the future. I am thankful that I was able to feature five beautiful and talented women from different walks of life, though. I know they will continue inspiring us with whatever they do these days.

Good News. I am adding a new page to this blog which is called DIY FASHION. In the said section, I will be sharing DIY tips and “how tos” in making fashionable clothes and accessories. If you think you have an eye for creative stuff, I guess you better watch out for my posts under this category.

Have a great day everyone. Cheers! :)

My Recent Shopping Haul

Okay hold on, I know the title says "shopping haul", but I did not break my piggy bank for all of this, okay? The total amount of these things is even cheaper than our monthly association dues. Promise!

a bangle with enamel design

more bangles

\
pink and yellow nail polish from Etude House

a dozen of cotton spandex undies.. yay!

some things to be posted under the SALE FIND category

fabric, garter, beads, ribbons, foam, etc.

That's about it. Tomorrow is my birthday, so I guess I will be out to have fun and relax. Unlike last year, I won't have a home party or friends invited for for a fiesta of pizza and pasta. Yeah.. boring isn't it? Well, I don't know. I guess it's all about getting old. You woke up one day and realized that you're tired with the traditional cakes and candle blowing and you just want to celebrate some other way. Whatever happens tomorrow, I will hopefully tell you the next day.

Cheers everyone and happy weekend! :)

Pink Quilted Flap Bag

I was busy in front of my sewing machine when a knock was heard from the door. My cousin opened it and was greeted by the postal guy who declared that I have a delivery from Japan. That time, I suddenly thought of my friend Bambie who lives in Tokyo. She is the owner of Kawaii Princess and Fabbielous Momma, by the way. She got my new address the other day and told me she’ll be sending a card for my birthday, the reason why I was a little bit astonished to receive a package instead of a card alone.

The mailman charge me only P40 custom fee for this. Its main content was a quilted flap bag. It is “Chanel-ish” and pink, so I fell in love with it right away.

Inside the pink bag was its matching coin purse, a birthday card, and then an H & M floral dress for my daughter.

Adik ka talaga Bambie dear. Haha! I know I asked about your new bag which you posted on FB if they have it in pink, but I didn’t expect you to buy one for me. What you did is a very sweet gesture. Plus, you even sent it two days before my birthday. Thank you so much talaga.

NOTE: A very similar quilted bag is now available in TOMATO for only P650.

My Current Favorite Pair of Shoes

There is only one pair of shoes that I would want to wear all day these days. That is my first pair of Zara flats. Actually, the first item I ever bought from a Zara store. I bought them the same day I bought my brown patent wedges. So, that was two pairs of shoes at the same day. Yeah, I never did that before, only in Turkey when shoes got cheaper during the Istanbul Shopping Fest.

I paid 39.95 TL or P1,138.50 for this pair.

The animal printed insole and the bow at the front made it look so lovely.

If you want a pair of comfortable shoes for shopping, I suggest you buy flat shoes like this. I checked a Zara store here in Manila, but they don't sell the same shoes. However, I saw a similar kind at a Mango boutique in Mall of Asia just recently. They sell them for P1400+.

Above is the photo of the orange ones, available in black too. The leopard printed insole is absent yet still looking as cute and comfy as my Zara flats.

Refashion: Pants to a Skirt

Here is a tip for you ladies who have a pair of neglected pants or jeans in the closet. If you wish to wear them again, take it to a seamstress to be altered and made into a skirt. If you think you can do it yourself, then bring out those scissors and begin cutting them now, just like what I did to this pair of lady trousers below.

Hubby's aunt gave me this as one of her gifts in our last trip to Turkey. I really liked it because of its leopard print, but it was like 2 size bigger than me. I had to think of a remedy to be able to wear it. Hence, after measuring, cutting, and sewing, the finish product is below-- a leopard printed mini skirt.

At first I thought my portable sewing machine won't be able to sew the thick fabric of the trousers. I only used it in making skirts for my daughter, using tulle fabric. As you know, tulle is so much lighter and thinner, one of the easiest fabric to work with. Now that I realized my sewing machine can sew even a thicker fabric, I guess I'll have to start shopping for materials to make bed sheets, pillow cases, and curtains for my daughter. Yay, more projects to come!

My First Polyvore Set

It was my first time at Polyvore today. For my first set, I recreated the Rumi's bohemian look. I think everybody knows her as the very famous blogger turned model and owner of Fashiontoast, right? Anyway,  I only changed the color of the top and then added earrings. What do you think?
