Sale Find: Black Vest

When I bought this item, it reminded me of Reiva Cruz from a makeup workshop at MUD to which I attended early this year. She wore a black vest beautifully, paired with a floral skirt, tights, and boots.

I'm not yet sure if I will be able to incorporate this vest into any of my outfits. I usually wear t-shirts and jeans but I also dress up a bit for events and other special occasions. Any suggestions on how to wear it? Thanks! :)

Huge Thanks + Sunshine Award

I am very happy that this blog just reached 400 followers. Since its birth, I think you know I always been grateful to you my readers and followers. For the meantime, I am passing this award that was given to me by a lovely lady blogger named Liza of Sun, Sand, and Stilettos. I stopped accepting tags and awards a long time ago, but I'm making an exception to this one. I am just currently too grateful not to pass it.

Queen of the Army

What's up ladies? How are you doing? I just checked my schedule and it says I have to be off in a bit to have lunch with some friends. Before hitting the road, let me share my outfit to a mall up north last Saturday. Our family went there for our usual weekend mall shopping and dining. Hubby took these photos at the parking lot.

That favorite bag of mine should rest in my closet for a while.

What I wore: Forever 21 earrings, tank top, and cardigan,
Penshoppe cargo pants, Figliarina wedges, INCI bag

Sophie Martin belt

rings from Baguio and Landmark

I sometimes find it hard to wear my cargo pants. The idea that they're created for field warriors is always stuck in my head. I know gone are those days that cargo pants are for soldiers only. Famous Hollywood celebrities like Leighton Meester, Halle Berry, Kim Kardashian, and many more sport cargo pants with heels and they all looked good. I bet you'll agree with me, but what do you really think of my ensemble? Anymore suggestions on how to wear a pair of cargo pants? :)

PFW: Michael Cinco Spring Summer 2012

It is the Philippine Fashion Week! What show have you watched so far? One of the famous Filipino designers these days, Michael Cinco, just presented a very beautiful collection at the Philippine Fashion Week Spring Summer 2012. Here are the breathtaking gowns that he created.

I Love the draping.

Very intricate design.

To die for.

Perfect silhouette.

Fantastic bead work!

A gown for the goddess.

And for the muse.. Anne Curtis.

Now meet Michael Cinco, the designer behind these beautiful clothes.

If you guys remember, like Oliver Tolentino, Michael Cinco's creations were also featured in America's Next Top Model. It was in episode 8 of cycle 16 of ANTM that this Dubai-based designer dressed the remaining six contestants.

Missed A Fashion Show

I know the title can be deceiving, but what I mean to say is, I just missed attending a fashion event! I really thought it was Thursday yesterday. I was invited to cover a certain fashion show somewhere in Fort Strip last Thursday, but I missed it. I normally put my "event schedule" in my cellphone calendar. I'd check my other network sim sometime in Wednesday and forgot to put the proper date after switching it back. The result was, thinking of Thursday as Wednesday and Friday as Thursday. Thursday night came and I freaked out when hubby told me that the next day was actually Friday.

I was in a rush so I used minimal make-up and hair was unkempt. Boo!

Okay enough of that. I missed the Thursday fashion show, but I'm glad I made it to Hotel Intercontinental on time yesterday. I was there to attend a press conference for a certain health product which I'm going to tell you about later. And oh, I finally got to wear my flared jeans and checkered button down top. I'm proud to say that I was able to go home using the railway transit in this outfit without falling down. Hahaha!

I don't know what people think. I just like it!

What I wore: button down top, Surplus Store, braided belt, Collezione, flared jeans, Forever 21, wedge shoes, Parisian by SM, hobo bag, INCI, and watch, Guess.

Please excuse the unpolished nails. They're clean though.

I like my wedge shoes so much even it's 5 inches in height, something that I didn't know until a few weeks ago after seeing a tape measure. However, I don't like its sole because it doesn't have enough grip on the floor and can be slippery when worn. I'm thinking of taking it to the shoe guy for some quick fix.

Happy weekend ladies! :)

Lady Gaga Wears Kermit Tesoro and Leeroy New Outfit in Marry the Night Cover

This is the cover art for Lady Gaga's latest single called Marry the Night. She wears a body armor outfit  which is said to be created by both young Filipino designers Kermit Tesoro and Leeroy New.

If you check the outfit closely, you'll see its resemblance to the outfit below which was worn by a model at the Philippine Fashion Week last year, when Kermit Tesoro and Leeroy New also collaborated.

As far as I know, Kermit Tesoro is famous for designing heel-less shoes and skull heels similar to Alexander Mcqueen's. On the other hand, Leeroy New started with modern sculpting and then later started designing clothes. As for Lady Gaga's clothing for that cover art, I really think it's all Leeroy New's work alone. A lot of people talk about this via Twitter and consider it a big deal who did it and what, etc. I don't know. What do you think? I am nothing against each of these designers, but maybe Kermit Tesoro did the shoes, right? Hmmmm?

Chiffon Maxi Skirt

You know I had a crush on this Forever 21 full maxi skirt. I'm not sure, I think I saw it online or from one of the local Forever 21 ambassadors, but I haven't seen it from any of the Forever 21 stores in the metro. I guess they're all gone and no more stocks. So anyway, I pushed myself to make a maxi skirt instead of paying for a similar skirt for hundreds of pesos from a different store. Here's the outcome of the project.

I know it doesn't have a full skirt. I bought a couple and a half of yards of chiffon fabric and another couple of yards of gina cloth for this project. It just didn't work. I had so much trial and error with this one. My sewing machine didn't work for a couple of times. I had to allow 3 days to finish this project and on the second day, I was close to throwing my machine outside my window. Arrghhh.. I really need to get a decent sewing machine soon!

Materials Used:
-chiffon fabric
-gina cloth
-hook and eye

Total Cost: P115

I did not achieve the look that I really wanted but I'm already happy with the finish product.
Till my next project ladies!

Guiliana Rancic Has Breast Cancer

I usually watch E! News after I'm done blogging and nothing else to do. Yesterday, it was sad to hear the news about Giuliana Rancic having a breast cancer. She announced on NBC's Today show that a tumor was discovered by doctors during a mammogram while she's undergoing another round of IVF. The 37 year old host is scheduled for a surgery this week and radiation therapy for 6 weeks. Hope things will go well with her.

Guiliana and her husband Bill have been trying to conceive. She had a miscarriage after her first in-vitro fertilization and her second didn't work. She bravely said, "I still want this baby ... because this baby has saved my life." And added, "I truly feel God was looking out after me … If I had gotten pregnant later down the line, I could have been a lot sicker."

As we all know, October is the Breast Cancer Awareness month, so I am posting this together with a short prayer for Guiliana and all the women in the world who are suffering from the same sickness.

Our Heavenly Father,

Please comfort Guiliana and all the women around world suffering from beast cancer. Cover them with Thy love and let them stay strong throughout the journey. We also ask Thee that more and more people will be aware of this sickness, so that everyone will take extra care of themselves, live healthy, and appreciate life better.

In Jesus name.

DIY Long Pearl Necklaces

Opppsss.. are the rainy days over? Rain is a good thing because it gives nourishment to the land. However, nobody likes too much rain because it causes floods. As a frugal fashionista (I mean that), the only thing that I like when it rains is staying at home and doing DIY projects.

For this project, I bought beads of plastic pearls at Carolina's Lace Shoppe. This is very easy to make, it's like the easiest project that even a 5 year old can make, so I guess I don't to make a "how to" for it.

I just want to share that instead of spending hundreds of pesos for a long necklace from Forever 21 or Accessorize, you better go to Carolina's Lace Shoppe, pick the bead of your choice and create a necklace for yourself. Mine here is plain, but you can add a flower or a bow for embellishment to yours.

Take note, for these gold and black long pearl necklaces, I only spend P80 or P40 each. Awesomeness right?

Top 6 Animal Prints

Animal prints are always trendy. If you add an animal printed bag, shoes, scarf or jacket to a basic outfit, it becomes more sophisticated and classy. However, still a lot of people confuse one animal print with another (including me). There is quite a big number of animals out there, though in fashion, only a few of which are famous among textile and other materials. So, to help our confused minds, let's study the top 5 animal prints.

1. Leopard - This is the most popular among all the animal prints. Leopard print is sometimes mistaken as jaguar print, though leopard has a number of variations. See two samples below.

2. Jaguar - The Jaguar print resembles the leopard print very well. Just remember that the jaguar print is almost orange in color, while leopard is more of a brown. Another distinction is the size of the print. Leopard has a smaller print compare with jaguar's that are bigger and bolder.

3. Cheetah - The cheetah print is easy to recognize. It is usually white with tiny black spots. Just like in the image below.

4. Tiger - Another brownish print is the tiger print. It's like a mix of tiger and zebra print in an brownish color.

5. Zebra - The zebra print is characterized by black stripes in a white background. It's the easiest to remember among all these prints.

6. Python - This is the animal print of the season. It comes in different colors like brown, gray, black, green, yellow, aquamarine, etc. Have you seen the Gucci Fall Winter 2011 Collection? It features super beautiful bags, shoes, and clothes in aquamarine python!

I bought this t-shirt because daughter currently likes Mickey Mouse Clubhouse so much. The very reason why we chose Minnie Mouse and Friends as a theme for her 3rd birthday. Last week, hubby surprised us with tickets for the yesterday show of Disney Live! Mickey’s Music Festival in Araneta Coliseum. This t-shirt was just perfect for it.

Hermes is Going Bananas!

This is a photo of a genuine Hermes Birkin bag in pink. Notice its workmanship and flawless detail. It is just perfect. No wonder a lot of ladies want to own an Hermes bag anywhere in the world. Here in the Philippines, Jinkee Pacquiao and Gretchen Barretto are just two of the many Filipinas who love toting Hermes.

This Birkin costs more or less $10,000.

In Taiwan, Hermes filed a lawsuit against the producer of the Banane Taipei bag. Banana International spokeswoman Fu Chien-yu argued that they are not using an image of  Hermes Birkin and they have their own banana trademark that symbolizes Taiwan's spirit. If the court rules in favor of Hermes, some legal experts said that the producer of Banane Taipei bag would have to pay millions in damages.

This pink Banana Taipei tote costs $119.99.

Now back to Manila, SM Department Store just started selling totes with an image of a Birkin, looking very much alike the Banana Taipei bag. I don't think Hermes will be able to follow this because SM Department Store doesn't have an international market or sell their merchandise online.

Each tote in this photo costs P999.75.

Honestly, I like Hermes because they sell bags with a very good quality. However, never that I wanted to have an Hermes bag, really, simply because I am a stingy person. If I have that large amount of money, I think I better buy a piece of land for my dream house instead of buying an Hermes bag.

Also, I don't think I would want to buy a Banana Taipei tote or that cheaper version by SM Department Store. For me, they are still expensive even they're eco-friendly. My latest sale find, the QUEEN by Queen Latifah Gold Tote, is way better than any of these bags.

An Hermes is an Hermes anyway. Nothing can beat that.

Instead, Dell is focused on the development and acquisition of storage intellectual property that delivers productivity and efficiency gains for highly-virtualized data centers. "Organizations of all sizes continue to place a priority on boosting IT asset efficiency while improving IT responsiveness to business pressures. New Dell EqualLogic Unified Storage Extends Fluid Data Architecture

In support of customers’ growing storage demands, Dell has begun shipping the new EqualLogic FS7500, the company’s latest NAS solution that works with EqualLogic PS Series arrays to deliver the only scale-out, unified storage platform for mid-size deployments. The EqualLogic FS7500 uses the Dell Scalable File System, a high-performance, clustered file system based on Dell intellectual property. The Dell Scalable File System architecture incorporates features formerly found only at the very high end including advanced caching, load balancing and multithreading for fast I/O processing.  This is the first step toward Dell’s long-term vision of a uniquely feature-rich, highly-scalable file system.

Customers consolidating applications onto a unified platform are demanding improved flexibility, to react to unanticipated changes in their application environment; flexibility not delivered by legacy unified solutions. As the EqualLogic unified storage platform provides online capacity and performance scaling for both file and block interfaces, customers can easily scale their platform in any dimension to meet business requirements.

Quotes: “We continue to transform our storage business through acquisitions and developing our own intellectual property. Our Fluid Data Architecture provides a strategy that helps customers lower the complexity and cost of managing their data. Today’s announcement marks significant progress in delivering on that strategy.” said Richard Teo, President, Dell Philippines.

“The new EqualLogic capabilities extend Dell’s leadership in virtualized IP-based storage solutions that are easy to manage. The new storage arrays can help our customers run highly optimized and efficient data centers by automating configuration and improving performance without forcing forklift upgrades.” “With the latest release of the Dell EqualLogic FS7500 Unified storage, Dell is expanding on our mid-market storage standard in terms of ease of use, reliability and performance,” said William Tan, Enterprise Storage Lead, Dell South Asia. “The EqualLogic FS7500 adds highly scalable NAS capability to the EqualLogic product line to provide a high performance scale-out unified storage solution for midsize deployments.”

Eastwood Richmonde Hotel Tour

When going abroad or visiting places out of town, my family usually stays in a hotel for couple of nights or more, depending on the length of the travel. So, visiting hotels, staying there, and touring around isn't a new thing to me. However, sharing a hotel experience is something that I am now doing for the first time. Let me tell you about.. Eastwood Richmonde Hotel in Libis, Quezon City!

Upon entrance, this huge chandelier impressed me a lot. It seemed to look like rainfall. So pretty.

This is one of the hotel rooms. Don't we just love staying in hotels? Huge comfortable beds, fresh sheets, and quiet sleep. Hmmmm!

Clockwise: living area of the hotel suite, fitness gym, kitchen of the hotel suite, the bathroom, and food and entertainment section.

Eastwood Richmonde Hotel in Libis is a good choice for those who want to stay in the metro. They have rooms that start from $95 and up. If I have a friend visiting the country and doesn't know a place to stay, I guess I'm going to recommend Eastwood Richmonde Hotel right away. From the airport, the place is very accessible via C5 Road. Plus, it is connected to the Eastwood Mall and neighboring to lots of bars and restaurants. Imagine how convenient that is.

Oliver Tolentino Dresses the Girls of America’s Next Top Model: All-Stars

Tyra Banks' famous reality show, America’s Next Top Model: All - Stars, featured Oliver Tolentino on its second episode. For their makeover photo shoot, 7 out of the 13 models wore his cocktail dresses and evening gowns while eating Pink's hotdogs. The said episode aired last September 26, 2011 8 PM on ETC. Here are the photos from the shoot.

Shannon Ratliff of Cycle 1 wearing a burgundy Thai silk gown with a mermaid cut.

Alexandria Everett from Cycle 16 in a red ball gown with sweetheart bodice.

Bianca Golden of Cycle 9 wearing a salmon piña dress.

Dominique Reighard from Cycle 10 in a glittery silver gown.

Sheena Sakai of Cycle 11 wearing a ruffled plum gown.

Lisa D'Amato from Cycle 5 in a purple piña cocktail dress.

Kayla Ferrell of Cycle 15 wearing a red-orange piña cocktail dress.

Honestly, I regret that I've never been to an Oliver Tolentino fashion show in the previous seasons of Philippine Fashion Week. He is famous in desiging very elegant gowns and dresses mostly made with indigenous fabrics like piña and abaca. He seriously represents Philippine fashion with great pride, so kudos to him!
