Question From A Reader: How to Spot a Fake Lacoste Bag?

I do receive emails from my readers from time to time. Most of them I just answer through an email or Facebook message. This time, I am sharing to you a message which I got 10 days ago.
Good day Ma'am.
I was wondering if you could help me distinguish fake Lacoste bags from real ones. I happen to have found a Lacoste bag here at home, but I can't seem to decipher whether it's real or not. Can you please help me?
Thank you and God bless :)

This letter came from Miss A. Thank you so much for this letter Miss A. Because of too much replica and fake bags out there, I know it's sometimes a little hard to tell which one is real and which one is not. In the Philippines, there are several stores that sell "class A" designer bags like Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Juicy Couture, Chanel, Lacoste, and even Hermes. This is why I decided to post your question here together with my answer, so the rest of my reader will be able to read it too.

Hamptons Terrycloth Shoulder Bag in Angel Blue - Regular Price $185

Okay honestly, I don't have a Lacoste item in my closet and nothing fake can be found in our house as well. The only Lacoste thing that I saw is hubby's classic polo in blue. So, to help Miss A with her problem, I was in SM Megamall today to visit a Lacoste store and to talk to someone who knows the brand so much better than me.

How To Spot A Fake Lacoste Bag

1. Logo - Leather bags have a square logo that reads "Lacoste Paris". If the bag is made of PVC, it should display the signature crocodile symbol in a typical green color. Bags made of nylon or cotton canvas may have a different crocodile color. However, the claws, teeth, and the spiky back of the crocodile must be all obvious when checked closely. Remember the bag is probably fake when the crocodile logo is not emrbroidered and sewn well or if the square logo is not properly attached.

2. Material - Lacoste bags are durable because they are made of quality materials. They are usually available in PVC, leather, or cotton canvas. They have a very good finish, displaying an even and secured stitching. On the other hand, fake bags are made of thin material, low quality zippers, or buckles. Plus, they are poorly stiched.

3. Design - Lacoste comes up with a new design and collection every season. For example, their newest release is R. George bags and pouches in military color. Anyhow, they have typical designs like the casual PVC and canvas bags that are usually availale in bright purple, pink, orange, blue, and yellow. Visit the website to get update with their latest designs.

4. Store - Where did you buy your Lacoste bag? Remember, to get the real thing, you should go to a Lacoste store, website or an authorized retailers.

5. Price - Lacoste is a high-end brand. There is no way that you can get an authentic Lacoste bag from a bazaar price of $35! Besides, $35 is not a price for a Lacoste bag, but a price for pouch only. Again, visit the website to get the prices of the current designs.

That's all for the tips. I had fun searching for an answer to Miss A's question, not to mention that I learned from it too. So ladies, if you have a question for me and you think I can answer them, just send it to mrskolca@gmail.com. Until next time! :D
